St. James Church

The Protestant village church St. Jakobus is in the Ritteburg district of the Kalbsrieth community in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .

history

The village was first mentioned on June 1, 932 . The village church of St. Jakobus with a remarkable church tower and aisle is located in the district of 200 inhabitants . The origin of the church is Romanesque , which can be seen in the lower part of the tower. The nave was built in its present form in 1718–1723. Nothing has been handed down about the previous church.

organ

The baroque organ, probably from the 18th century, cannot be played.

state of construction

The church is in need of renovation including the wooden structure of the roof. In 2008 the endangered west gable was secured.
