The Catholic parish church of St. Jakobus the Elder is a baroque hall church in Rohrdorf am Inn in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria . It belongs to the Rohrdorf parish in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

History and architecture

After several fires and subsequent reconstruction, nothing remains of the original church. The present church was rebuilt in the years 1769–1773 according to the plans of the Munich court architect Leonhard Matthäus Gießl. Only the late Gothic lower part of the tower has survived from the previous building, which received a new upper part in 1854/1855. The vestibule dates from 1864.

The church is a stately hall church with a semicircular closed choir and a north tower, to which a two-story sacristy adjoins. The east and west rounded nave is closed with a barrel vault with belts over a surrounding cornice, the choir with a hollow vault with stitch caps . Stucco decorations from around 1770 by Felix Pämer are only attached to the pilaster capitals and the apostles' crosses . The ceiling painting is from 1927 by Anton Niedermaier and shows scenes from the life of St. James .

The high altar from 1712 by Franz Jakob Amrhein was purchased in 1787 and slightly changed. The altar panel shows the Visitation of Mary , painted by Johann Degler in 1713. Between the free-standing columns are figures of Saint Processus and Martinianus , the guardian of Peter converted to Christianity in the Mamertine prison , by Andreas Faistenberger . In the altar extract , St. James is depicted between angels, on the tabernacle there is a seated figure of St. James from around 1500, a former central figure of a late Gothic winged altar, which is attributed to the master von Rabenden .

In the choir there is also a former painting of St. Aloisius from 1773, presumably by Joseph Anton Höttinger. The side altars date from around 1772: The northern one is furnished with figures by Georg Angerer, showing St. Laurentius over the poor souls , St. John Nepomuk and St. Florian as well as St. Peter in the extract. The southern side altar is a cross altar with a Pietà from 1858, which was created as a copy of a medieval Vesper picture , and with figures of Saints Emmeram and Barbara by Joseph Götsch . The excerpt shows Saint Magdalena, surrounded by putti with instruments of suffering .

The pulpit was created by Johann Philipp Wagner in 1797, the crucifix opposite is from the beginning of the 18th century. Cheeks with carved rocailles were probably created by Johann Georg Keill in the years 1777–1779. A coat of arms tombstone for Bernhard Pschahel († 1430) has been preserved under the gallery.
