The church St. Johann im Gnadenthal is a monastery church of the Franciscan Sisters in Ingolstadt . It belongs to the Gnadenthal Monastery in Ingolstadt , which was founded in 1276. The nave with a roof turret was probably built in 1487 under the direction of a master builder named Mörsheimer in late Gothic style. From around 1605 the baroque extension to the west took place. The portal was last changed in a baroque style around 1697/98.

The original furnishings of the altar were dedicated to both John the Baptist and the Evangelist John . The wooden relief of St. Anna selbdritt, which is now embedded in the southern longitudinal wall, was made by Hans Leinberger in 1513 and is actually the middle part of a three-part altarpiece. According to the inscription, the picture was donated by the citizens Jakob Riedler and Veit Peringer. In addition, the furnishings include the so-called Landshut Madonna, a carving that is dated to 1522, but has only been part of the St. Johann im Gnadenthal church since 1803. Originally it was part of the Landshut Franciscan Monastery and came to Ingolstadt in the course of secularization and the dissolution of the local monastery. The wall paintings in the choir of the church were created in 1953 by the nun Euphemia Blaschke.
