St. Johannes (also St. John the Apostle Church ) is the church building of the Syrian Orthodox community in Wiedenbrück , a district of Rheda-Wiedenbrück .
history
The building was built as a movie theater and later converted into a department store. In 1985 it was acquired by the Aramaic community and transformed into a church with a community center. This makes St. Johannes one of three Aramaic communities in Gütersloh, which in turn makes this region one with the largest community of members of this faith in Germany.
local community
The community belongs to the Syrian Orthodox Diocese for Germany in Warburg .
