St. Johannes Baptist (Langenstrasse-Heddinghausen)
The Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist is a listed church building in Langenstrasse-Heddinghausen , a district of Rüthen in the Soest district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The neo-Romanesque transept basilica was built from local sandstone under the supervision of Arnold Güldenpfennig . He based the design on the forms of the Rhenish late Romanesque . The choir is adorned with a dwarf gallery . The west tower one was lozenge roof put on. The stair tower is flanked by two two-story extensions. The walls are divided by arched, fan and rose windows. The stepped column portals are adorned with thympana . The ribbed vaults were drawn in over cross pillars. The tower hall and above the organ gallery above are semicircular open to the central nave.
Furnishing
- The partially figurative wall paintings from the period from 1909 to 1911 were created by A. Wittkopp.
- The leaded glass windows by Joseph Osterrath were installed in 1892.
- The main and side altars are from 1898/1899.
- The organ was built by Franz Eggert in 1894.
