history

In the Middle Ages, Langenstrasse and Heddinghausen belonged to the Electoral Cologne Duchy of Westphalia. In 1802 the places came to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt , in 1815 to the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 to the district of Lippstadt, where they belonged to the mayor of Rüthen. The Altenrüthen Office was formed from the Mayor's Office of Rüthen in 1843 .

Around 1890 the communities of Heddinghausen and Langenstrasse were merged to form the community of Langenstrasse-Heddinghausen . On January 1, 1975, the community Langenstrasse-Heddinghausen was dissolved and incorporated into the city of Rüthen.
