St. Josef (Rheydt)
The Catholic Church of St. Joseph is in the district of Rheydt in Mönchengladbach , Nordrhein-Westfalen , Keplerstraße 75a.
The church was built between 1903 and 1905 and entered on October 14, 1986 under No. K 029 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
architecture
The Church of St. Joseph is a neo-Gothic building in the style of the 14th century. The hall church , oriented from west to east, has three aisles with an extensive crossing and a raised choir with ambulatory.
The tower , which has been modified several times, dominates the church from the west . The tower is covered by a hexagonal, slate-roofed helmet . As a balanced example of neo-Gothic building as well as a parish church of a large community for religious-historical and architectural-historical reasons.
The former parish church of St. Josef was converted into a Church of the Holy Sepulcher by the architect Burkhard Schrammen. Tombs have taken over the former places of the rows of banks. They were used as space-creating elements and respond to the existing construction grid of the building.
