The church is located in the center of Meseberg on the Winkel street .

Architecture and history

The elongated church, built from rubble stones, was built in the 18th century, using the remains of a previous Romanesque building. The previous building burned down in 1743. The new, simple church was designed in the style of late baroque and classicism . The plastered building is closed on three sides to the east. The ship's windows are rectangular in shape. There is a vestibule on the south side. To the west of the low nave and placed across it is the Romanesque church tower. It is covered with a gable roof. The sound openings are closed with slightly pointed arches.

The interior of the church is spanned by a fluted, flat ceiling, which has existed in this form since a simplistic renovation in the years 1965 to 1968. Some of the furnishings are from the late Baroque era , such as the short horseshoe gallery in the west , the altar wall and the pulpit . The altar wall faces the east and has side boxes and colossal pilasters . The pulpit was originally part of the altar wall, but was dismantled in 1968 and is now at ground level.

In the church there is a baptismal font with an octagonal dome, which was created in the Gothic style .

Several grave slabs from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved on the side walls of the nave. In addition, there are late Classicist grave steles with mourning motifs from the mid-19th century in the cemetery.

In the local register of monuments , the church is listed as a monument under registration number 094 70539. As an alternative to Sankt-Laurentius, Sankt-Ursula is also given as a name.
