Chapel of St. Magdalena in Hirschdorf

St. Magdalena is a village chapel in Hirschdorf , a district of Kempten (Allgäu) . The chapel, completed in 1774 under Prince Abbot Honorius Roth von Schreckenstein, was restored in 1830 after a fire. The structure of St. Magdalena is very similar to the Mariä-Heimsuchungs-Kapelle in Mariaberg . The Russian Orthodox community celebrates its services in the listed church building .

description

The single nave longhouse with a flat barrel has rounded east corners. To the east of the semicircular closed, recessed choir is a sacristy annex . There is a roof turret on the northwest side .

A classical altar from around 1790, which contains a crucifixion group from 1774, stands in front of a reredos stuccoed cornice and volute bands at the end of the choir. This crucifixion group with the depiction of Mary, Johannes and Magdalena was attributed to Ignaz Wilhelm Verhelst.

In the niches next to the choir arch there are white-framed figures of Saints Sebastian and Vitus , which probably date from 1774. On the eastern outer wall of the sacristy, a circular sandstone relief with the head of Christ can be seen, which possibly dates from the 14th century.

Small glass windows show the coat of arms and portrait of Prince Abbot Honorius Roth von Schreckenstein.
