St. Marien Badbergen

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Marien in Badbergen was built from 1867 to 1869 after the dissolution of the simultaneous relationships in 1866, after the St. George's Church no longer had to be used as a simultaneous church .

The cathedral master builder Johann Bernhard Hensen was responsible for the planning and implementation of the construction . He built numerous churches for the dioceses of Osnabrück and Münster, mostly in the neo-Gothic style.

The single-nave brick church with sandstone frames was built in the historicizing neo-Gothic style from 1867 to 1869. It closes with a quintuple choir. The west tower contains the portal. The interior is characterized by ribbed vaults . The neo-Gothic furnishings have only been partially preserved.

In 2005/2006 the Marienkirche was renovated according to a concept by the Rottweiler church artist Tobias Kammerer . The green carpet laid under the pews after the last renovation in 1980, the light-colored wooden panels and the plywood altar gave way to a new color concept and a new marble and wood altar that replaced the temporary arrangement erected after the Second Vatican Council. During the gutting, the original sandstone floor of the church building was exposed, which was refurbished and partially replaced. The high altar from 1866 has been refurbished. Blue, gold and purple columns reaching towards the sky mark the locations of the baptismal font , the statue of Joseph and the Pietà . The stations of the cross were also given a colored base after the wooden paneling had been removed from the walls. The confessional found a new place under the organ floor. The renovation costs amounted to more than 200,000 euros.
