The Catholic branch church St. Marien is a church building in Heessen , a district of Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was the parish church of the independent parish of St. Marien in Heessen until the 1st of Advent 2004.

History and architecture

The T-shaped hall , set at an angle in a square base building, was built by Peter Kulka and Hans Schilling from 1985 to 1986 . The tower is on the side. The exterior is characterized by the interpenetration of two large architectural forms of different heights, differentiated in the color of the brick . The ground floor is divided by slot-like windows, the gables are divided by round windows. The clearly structured interior is characterized by an open wooden roof structure.

Furnishing

  • The font with tracery fillings from around 1500 originally comes from the earlier village church in Heessen.
  • The Madonna is from the second half of the 15th century.
  • The wooden crucifix from the 16th century is unmounted.
  • A collection of architectural stones from buildings from all over the world is remarkable.
