The church

The Protestant town church of St. Marien is in the small town of Triptis in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

history

The first town church Triptis was built in the 12th or 13th century on a pre-Christian cult site in the same place as the current building. In 1540 not only large parts of the city burned down , but also the church . In 1775 the building suffered the same fate, only a late Gothic tabernacle defied the flames, which was then walled up when the new building was built. The construction of the current church building took place between 1781 and 1784, and old wall remains were reused. The new church tower received a so-called "lost top". It was not completed until 1827.

A renovation was due for the 100th anniversary. A new pulpit followed . Details can be found in the cited literature.

In 1986 it was renovated and rebuilt again. The color scheme of the chancel corresponded to that of 1784. The church received electrical underfloor heating. On Easter Sunday 1993, the regional bishop Roland Hoffmann inaugurated the church again.
