City Church (Protestant)

Stadtkirche is the status of certain Protestant churches that arose in the course of the Reformation and which represent a special independence of a city in political and religious terms.

In some cases, however , the Evangelical City Church is just a name that does not describe any particular political or canonical position.

In Austria, Emperor Joseph II  created the basis for the establishment of Protestant prayer houses (tolerance prayer houses ) with the tolerance patent in 1781 .
