City Church Thun
The Stadtkirche Thun is the main Reformed church in the city of Thun , Canton Bern , Switzerland .
architecture
While the tower dates from around 1330 and was frescoed around 1430 , the church is a new building based on plans by Paulus Nader from 1738. Before that, there was a church with a Gothic high choir, consecrated to Saint Mauritius in the Middle Ages , whose origins date back to the 13th century Century, and traces of other previous buildings can be traced back to the 10th century.
The late baroque sermon hall is decorated with stucco work by Daniel Haag. The communion table in the Renaissance style is from 1602, the pulpit of Daniel Gintzi of 1661. Also worth visiting is one of Johann August Nahl (the Elder) created Epitaph for Schultheissen Beat Ludwig May from the year 1748th
organ
The organ was built in 1950 by the organ building company Metzler (Dietikon) and expanded in 1994. Today the instrument has 47 registers on three manuals and a pedal. The game actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electric.
