history

View from 1952

In the 13th century, a previous building in the late Gothic style was created from field stones and lawn iron stone , which was enlarged in the 14th century. The first foundations for the later hall church were laid. According to the Dehio manual, the two western yokes were not erected until the third quarter of the 15th century; the 70 m high church tower from 1480. This was later put on a baroque tower dome. Around 1500 the sacred building was supplemented by a northern extension made of field stones. A south porch was added at the end of the 19th century. At the end of the Second World War , the church was badly damaged, and in 1947 the cross vault fell into the interior of the church. In the post-war years the church was rebuilt and the destroyed tower dome was replaced by a pointed helmet. The new church consecration took place in 1950. In 1962, craftsmen placed a concrete point on the building in the Gothic style. After the political change in the GDR in 1989/1990, the church was completely renovated. The concrete tip was covered with copper. In the summer months, the building is used for church services on Sundays. In the winter months they take place in the regional church.

Building description

The choir begins in the east of the building. It is five-sided on the outside and three-sided on the inside. There are twin niches on the walls around the choir room. The side aisles are drawn around the choir.

The nave is five bays long and is stabilized by circumferential, stepped buttresses . In each of the fields is a high, three-part pointed arch window with a renewed tracery . The reveal of the windows is bevelled. Next to the second yoke on the north side is an added, pointed arched portal, which probably comes from the previous building.

The keel-arched west portal dates from the end of the 15th century; it is decorated with crab jewelry. The brick portal has pinnacles on the side . The tower entrance is spanned by a mesh vault. The four-sided church tower is attached to the west and divided several times with panels . On the ground floor there are wide pointed arches that become arched, dovetailed and finally keel-arched towards the top. Above it is an octagonal floor with sound arcades . It is covered by a pointed helmet that can be seen from afar and is crowned by a ball, a weather vane and a cross.

Furnishing

The original equipment of the carver A. Schultze was completely destroyed in 1947. The new furnishings, altar and pulpit , are kept simple and date from 1950 to 1960. The baptism is made of sandstone . The Vorberger Altar is set up as a side altar on the north side . The altar dates from through the open pit Seese East devastated place Foothill ; it is made of linden and pine wood. In the main field from around 1600 Jesus is depicted on the cross, Mary is on his left and Joseph of Nazareth on the right . The Messiah stands on the altar as the risen one. The Last Supper is depicted in the predella from 1664. Judas sits on the right edge . The pulpit was created around 1650 and shows Jesus Christ and the evangelists. It was in the town of Tornow, which was also devastated in 1968 .

The pointed arch arcades rest without a fight on octagonal pillars. The structure has had a flat roof since it was damaged in World War II. The original net vault is only preserved in the two western bays.

The organ , built by the Alexander Schuke company from Potsdam, dates from 1954.
