City Church Koenigsee

The Evangelical Lutheran town church for the praise of God in Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia is a neo-Gothic church from the 19th century.

history

The free-standing, powerful three-aisled town church on a raised level on the western edge of the city has a wreath of ten stone pinnacles on the church tower . The inside is well preserved.

The architect of the design was Brecht, building councilor. The foundation stone was laid in 1866 and the neo-Gothic church was inaugurated on May 3, 1871. Four bells were taken over from the previous church.

The company J. F. Schulzes Söhne from Paulinzella supplied the large organ with 21 registers .

In 1986 the town church was rededicated after a thorough interior renovation .
