St. Martin (Griesbach)
The parish church of St. Martin is a Catholic church in the Mähringer district of Griesbach . Together with the place Großkonreuth and its parish church St. Johannes Baptist, the two places form their own parish in the dean's office Tirschenreuth of the diocese of Regensburg .
Building history
The church, consecrated to St. Martin , was built towards the end of the 18th century in 1783 as a hall . The high altar of St. Martin was installed in the building in 1801. Today the building is a registered monument.
description
The chancel is drawn in and closed on three sides, the corners of the nave are rounded towards the choir. The four-column high altar, which is decorated by a volute gable and dates from 1801, as well as the two side altars are late baroque.
The altarpiece shows Martin of Tours, the patron of the church; the apostles Peter and Paul are depicted on the two side wings . The pictures on the side altar show St. Mary and Joseph , which were made at the beginning of the 19th century. The organ prospectus was originally in the church of the Speinshart monastery . The figures of the four church fathers in the nave were created around 1700.
