The St. Martini Church , also Behnsdorf village church , is a listed church in the village of Behnsdorf in Saxony-Anhalt, which belongs to the municipality of Flechtingen .

It belongs to the Protestant church district Haldensleben-Wolmirstedt of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and is located in the street An der Kirche.

Architecture and history

The baroque hall church was built in 1743/44 based on a building inscription. On its west side there is a church tower with a rectangular floor plan. He is crowned by a delivered Welschen bonnet . There is a three-sided closure on the east side of the nave. The ship is covered by a mansard roof .

The interior of the church is spanned by a hollow vault made of wood . The equipment is based on the construction period. There is a pulpit altar flanked by side passages to which the choir stalls are connected. The pulpit is surrounded by fluted columns. The sound cover consists of a canopy formed by a longitudinal barrel vault. The church has a horseshoe gallery, on the west side the gallery has a second floor on which the organ is housed. The organ was built around 1860/70 by Adolf Reubke & Sohn from Hausneindorf .

The baptismal font was created in 1860 and is designed as an octagonal goblet with a foundation inscription. There are two gravestones with inscriptions of the pastor couple Johann Eberhard Matthies († 1757) and Dorothea Sophia Augusta , née Heidelmann († 1754).

The colored glass windows show Peter and Paul and are from the end of the 19th century.

The churchyard is walled.

In the local monument register , the church is registered as a monument under registration number 094 84179 .
