St. Matthäus is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Munich district of Hasenbergl -Süd, Eduard-Spranger-Straße 48. From its foundation until 2006, it was an order parish of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales .

history

In 1966, Father Norbert Staab, a member of the order, was commissioned to set up a parish in the newly built residential area Hasenbergl-Süd, which had been built since 1965. Initially, the services were held in a makeshift church , as the kindergarten , parsonage and parsonage should be built as a priority. The design for the entire facility comes from the Munich architect Sepp Pogadl.

The church, completed in 1972, is a low-rise building without a tower. The bells are in the annex. The square hall church with a wooden ceiling is kept simple according to the ideas of the Second Vatican Council . The faithful gather from three sides around the altar , which, like the ambo, was made of exposed concrete . The small weekday church is also kept simple. The walls are rough plastered , painted white and without decorations. The organ is on the back wall.

The church was consecrated on June 4, 1972 by Cardinal Julius Döpfner . As early as 1968 the Curate of St. Matthew was elevated to the status of a city parish.
