St. Matthew (Romschütz)
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Matthew is in the Romschütz district of the municipality of Göhren in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Altenburg in the church district Altenburger Land of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The village church was built on the site of the church that was demolished in 1725 by Gottfried Samuel Vater in the Baroque style until 1737 . The inauguration took place in 1737.
architecture
The nave is a slightly elongated octagonal central building. Remnants of the predecessor were included in the east. Above it stands a square church tower with an octagonal slate top. The tower hood is from 1733 with a copper lamb as a base for the weather vane .
The interior has a wooden ceiling and a single-storey gallery . It is supported on pillars. The pulpit altar and the organ , a work by Christian Friedrich Poppe the Elder. J. from 1824, are located on the east side. On the west side there is a patronage box.
