Illsitz village church
The Evangelical Lutheran village church Illsitz is in the Illsitz district of the town of Schmölln in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Schmölln church district Altenburger Land of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The church was significantly rebuilt in 1880. Before that there was already a late Gothic church that is said to go back to the 13th century. She was already on the hill in the upper part of the village.
architecture
The church has a rectangular nave with a choir drawn in on three sides . The portal is late Gothic and the tower is an attached roof turret . The pulpit dates from the 17th century and is supported by pillars. On the parapet are the figures of an angel and three evangelists . The figure of Matthew stands on the pulpit stairs . There is a late Gothic crucifix in the nave .
The two bells from 1805 were cast in Apolda . The organ was built in 1856 by the organ builder Poppe from Stadtroda .
Means of monument protection
The village church was renovated around the year 2000 with funds from the monument protection and donations from the regional church .
