The old church on the hill was rebuilt in 1688, but at the end of the last century it did not hold half of the 800 inhabitants of the community. From 1898 to 1902 the hall church was rebuilt without columns in the neo-Romanesque style. It stands elevated above the village- defining half-timbered houses below it and is the only neo-Romanesque church in Eichsfeld with all the interior fittings.

In the hall of the nave there is a valuable winged altar . The organ gallery is adorned with 24 medallions and carries an organ by the Krell brothers from 1947 with two manuals and pedal as well as 24 sounding voices.
