The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Nicolai is in the Krimderode district of the city of Nordhausen in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia .

history

The church tower on the east side of the church , built with stones from the area, has half-timbered construction as the upper floor , which was built in 1580. There are two sound hatches on the south side , with the clock face of the tower in between . The tower roof and remains of the wall are covered with slate .

There was once a crypt in the lower base of the tower . The sanctuary housed in the tower base is plastered.

The porch to the nave dates from the 18th or 19th century. On the south side of the building there is a black oak cross dedicated to the fallen fathers and sons in World War II .

The floor plan of the nave is given as 9 by 7.5 meters. The roof is covered with pantiles .

The year 1765 is carved on the western entrance door. The church stalls are to the left and right of the aisle.

The organ on the west gallery was originally built in 1874 by Jacob Vogt from Corbach for the Catholic community in Wilnsdorf (Westphalia). R. Knauf took the organ in payment for a new building and built it into the Nicolaikirche in 1892. In 1917 some prospect pipes had to be delivered for war purposes. In 1935 an electric fan was installed to operate the organ.

The originally preserved and fully functional tower clock was built in 1903 by JFWeule from Bockenem .

Four bronze bells hang in a steel bell cage .

In 2006 the church roof was renovated.

Around 1950 the pastor at the time had a high Christian cross erected in front of the church in memory of the fallen and missing in World War II . Monuments, let alone with name boards, were not allowed during the Soviet Zone and GDR.
