The Protestant town church St. Nikolai is a Gothic brick church in Kremmen in the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the parish of Kremmen in the parish of the Upper Havelland Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and is an open church .

History and architecture

From a carefully field stone blocks built rectangular building from the second half of the 13th century were parts of the choir walls and the later Baroque rebuilt, barrel-vaulted sacristy on the north side get. The choir was raised in brick in the second half of the 15th century and the east wall was broken through with a large central window. Originally, a group of slender, ogival windows was arranged in the east wall. The three-aisled, three-bay hall longhouse was added to the west at about the same time.

The interior is proportioned and closed by star vaults in the central nave, which are supported by low arcades on archaic pillars. Cross vaults have been drawn into the side aisles. The tower yoke is not arched. The choir is closed off by two higher, heavily busted star vaults. The windows are finely profiled in the walls and have a pressed, ogival shape. The portals in the south and west are each arranged in a high pointed arch. The transverse rectangular west tower above the west yoke of the central nave was given today's upper floor in 1928 and was completed with a transverse saddle roof. Additions from around 1865 can be found on the north and south sides. A restoration was carried out in 1964 and another in 1995.

Furnishing

The high-quality baroque furnishings were made by a wood sculptor from the Mark Brandenburg region. The main part is an altarpiece from 1686, which is characterized by a clear two-storey structure surrounded by a curved structure. It shows double columns on the main floor and single columns on the upper floor; in the center there are paintings with depictions of the Last Supper , the Crucifixion, the Resurrection and the walk to Emmaus .

The pulpit from 1694 shows painted representations of Christ and the four evangelists in the fields of the polygonal basket decorated with fruit hangings; the figure of the risen one is shown on the sound cover.

The baptism, also from 1694, consists of a round basin with flower threads, which is carried by three baptized persons. There are galleries from 1603 on the long walls of the choir; the patron s box is inserted in the north . On the parapet below are two paintings by David and Nathan from the second half of the 17th century.

There is a sacrament niche in the sacristy . An epitaph for Adolf Ernst von der Lütcke († 1691) shows a picture of the deceased with a carved frame made of weapons and trophies. Another epitaph by Thomas J. Grüwels († 1708) is equipped with a cartouche that is accompanied by the allegorical figures of Bellona and Fortitudo .

An organ made by Alexander Schuke Potsdam Orgelbau in 1961 has 15 stops on two manuals and a pedal .
