Century erected. The church is a protected monument of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation with the file number D-1-78-116-34.

history

Piedendorf as a place is documented for the first time in 1022/23, when Bishop Egilbert von Freising exchanged land for “Pietandorf” . 1315 Pietendorf is named as a branch of Abens in the Konradinische Matrikel . How long before the church existed is not known. In 1585 two altars are mentioned in a parish description, a Nicholas and Margaretha altar and a Sebastian altar.

Building

The building with thick walls is likely to have been built in the 12th / 13th Century as a fortified church; at that time he was probably already dedicated to St. Consecrated to Bishop Nicholas of Myra . Since the renovation in 1979, a round-arched Romanesque window has been uncovered on the south side of the nave, and there is also such a window on the east wall of the choir, which has just ended. You can also see parts of a stair-shaped round arch frieze.

Furnishing

The furnishings are of the early Baroque style. The altars date from the second half of the 17th century. On the middle choir altar, St. Bishop Nikolaus with the three balls in his left hand and the bishop's staff in his right. The apostles Peter (right) and Paul (left) stand on the transverse side altars. The gallery is simple and made of solid wood. The cross on the wall next to the entrance dates from the early 18th century. The Gothic wooden sculptures (around 1480) depict Margaretha (with the dragon) and Bishop Wolfgang (with a church model) and are of good quality.

The ceiling of the nave was designed in 1954 by church painter Michael Weingartner from Pfaffenhofen. They are square fields with various representations of saints.
