St. Pankratius Altheim

The church of St. Pankratius in Altheim is the branch church of the pastoral care unit Frickingen - Heiligenberg in the dean's office in Linzgau in the Lake Constance district , which was renovated in 1697 .

Building history and description

The landlords of the village Altheim were to secularization , the Fürstenberg rule Heiligenberg , the Empire abbeys Salem and Peter Hausen and the Holy Spirit Hospital in Ueberlingen . The church was completely renovated in 1697 and still exists in this uniform configuration to this day. It is surrounded by a waist-high wall, inside which the former cemetery of the community is located. The gravestones of the deceased from the cemetery have been preserved without grave borders. The new cemetery is located at the southeast entrance to the village.

The late medieval slate-roofed church tower is on the north side of the building and has two dials.

The interior of the church consists of a simple room ( hall church ), to which the small choir room in the form of a five-eighth closure is attached in the east . At the western end of the main room a gallery was built in 1899 on which the organ stands. The pulpit is on the north wall of the main room; Today it is only accessible with a ladder, as the previous staircase, of which there are still traces on the wall, has been removed.

Furnishing

The main altar of the church is dedicated to Our Lady . On the side altars there are standing figures of the Saints Pankratius (left) and Othmar von St. Gallen (right).

The organ was built in 1899 by the Mönch company from Überlingen . In 1921 the requisitioned prospect pipes were replaced in zinc. In 1924 the instrument was equipped with an electric fan. In 1940 the organ was repaired and modernized by Otto Mönch (Überlingen) (including a new console), and the disposition was extended by two stops. In 2000 the organ was restored according to strict conservation standards. The Kegelladen instrument has 11 stops on the main work (C – f 3 : Principal 8 ′, Gamba 8 ′, Flute 8 ′, Covered 8 ′, Octav 4 ′, Mixtur III-IV 2 23 ′), minor work (C– f 3 : Flautino 8 ′, Salicional 8 ′, Dolce 4 ′) and pedal (C – c 1 : Subbass 16 ′, Octavbass 8 ′). The actions are pneumatic.
