St. Peter and Paul

The Church of St. Peter and Paul was a Catholic church in the Burglesum district of Bremen . At last she belonged to the parish of the Holy Family with its seat in Grohn , in the Dean's Office Bremen-Nord of the Diocese of Hildesheim . The church was named after the Saints Simon Peter and Paul of Tarsus , it had the address Eichenhof 2 .

history

In 1963 an existing villa was bought by the church, which previously housed the Haus Mecklenburg retirement home . Initially, her house chapel was used for church services. On October 1, 1965, a parish was established in Bremen-Lesum. In 1973 the church service room was considerably enlarged and in 1986 a community hall was added. On July 1, 1988, the previous Curate of St. Peter and Paul was raised to an independent parish. In 2004, a pastoral care unit was formed from the parishes of Aumund, Grohn and Lesum , which merged on November 1, 2006 to become today's parish of the Holy Family . On November 19, 2012, the Church of St. Peter and Paul was profaned by Vicar General Werner Schreer . The church building had already been sold in 2012 and was demolished in 2014 for residential construction. The inventory was given away to churches in Poland and Ukraine in 2013.

Architecture and equipment

The church was about 30 meters above sea level . The altar and the church windows were designed in 1973 by Claus Kilian , the statues of the patrons Petrus and Paulus in 2003 by Bernd Altenstein .
