The Church of St. Petrus Scheckenhofen is a branch of the parish of Mauern in the Freising district , Upper Bavaria .

history

The name Scheckenhofen can be traced back to a priest named Skaccho, who is mentioned as a witness in a Freising document in 784 . The church itself was first mentioned in 930. Back then, Bishop Wolfram von Freising had exchanged the church and half a tithe from a Gottschalk.

Building description

The Romanesque hall building has a Gothic polygonal choir from the 15th century. The church has an attached sacristy and a choir flank tower. A baroque expansion took place in 1708. The furnishings include a high altar from around 1650 and pews with cheeks from around 1740. The church is a protected architectural monument with the file number D-1-78-142-12 of the BLfD .
