architecture

The church was built in 1957-58 in the northwest of the municipality of Gadderbaum. The church name refers to Pope Pius X. His coat of arms was placed above the entrance. It was a characteristic example of new trends in church building in the region, which took up liturgical and architectural suggestions from the Rhineland in addition to the Westphalian and Westphalian traditions. This new movement took off slowly and in very different buildings. The triangular church of St. Pius, designed by Bielefeld architect Willy Kirchner , was considered to be “the first typical example of a new form” in church construction at that time. The building erected by building officer Willy Kirchner stood on a trapezoidal floor plan; it was the first church in the archbishopric to have no visible sloping roof surfaces. The church is de- dedicated and is currently being demolished. Organ, bells and other works of art have been recovered and are either sold or stored. The church is to make way for an extension of the Pius Home. In the future, church services will take place in the Marienkapelle of the St. Pius home.
