St. Trinitatis (Veilsdorf)

Trinity Church

The listed Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Trinitatis and the neighboring Church of Peace St. Veit are located in the municipality of Veilsdorf in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

The church stands on a ledge of the Leite , a ridge next to the Werra . The mighty tower above the late Gothic choir is 20 meters high and is noticeable through ledges , windows and hatches. The building has four storeys with a slate-covered crowning with a button and weather valve , and the top reaches 31 meters. The roof is pyramidal and also covered with slate. Everything together rises 51 meters.

Built in 1604 nave with bricks covered. The landmark of the place and in the upper Werra valley is decorated inside with floral motifs and stylized stone imitations and a painted coffered ceiling . These motifs can also be found in the gallery parapets .

The organ was built in 1886 by the organ builder Theodor Kühn from Schmiedefeld.
