The St. Vincentius Clinics are a formerly independent hospital in Karlsruhe, which is now part of the `` ViDia Christliche Kliniken Karlsruhe ''. It consists of 17 clinics and institutes and is the teaching hospital of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .

history

On January 29, 1851, the St. Vincentius-Verein Karlsruhe was founded by writer Amalie Baader and chaplain Franz Xaver Höll. On August 20 of the same year, the association received approval to build a hospital, which finally opened on January 1, 1854. The Sisters of Charity of the Order of Saint Vincent de Paul in Freiburg took over the management. Especially in the years after the Second World War, the hospital was repeatedly expanded and enlarged with new buildings. In 2000, the legal form of the St. Vincentius Association was transformed into a non-profit joint stock company .

After the merger with the Diakonissenkrankenhaus Karlsruhe , the new provider operates under Vincentius-Diakonissen-Kliniken gAG (ViDia)

Locations

The facilities of the St. Vincentius clinics are spread over several locations in the southwest of Karlsruhe: the so-called "old Vincenz" in Südendstrasse, the so-called "new Vincenz" in Steinhäuserstrasse and the former Marienkrankenhaus in Edgar von Gierke-Strasse.

After the completion of the replacement building in Steinhäuserstraße, the rescue helicopter Christoph 43 will be stationed there on a roof landing area.
