St. Willibrord

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Willibrord in Bad Münstereifel - Nöthen belongs to the diocese of Aachen . Today the parish forms the community of the parishes of St. Barbara Mechernich with several other parishes . The church is dedicated to St. Willibrord .

The three-aisled predecessor building, dating from the Middle Ages, consisted of plastered quarry stone, had a tower with a slate pyramid as a spire and a choir closed on three sides . This church was demolished to be replaced by a new building in 1912 and 1913.

Eduard Endler made the plans for the new parish church . The new church was consecrated in 1913. It is a three-aisled stone basilica with a transept in the middle of the nave. The nave has a somewhat lower vestibule and a choir on its north-eastern narrow side; next to the choir is the sacristy. A square church tower with a pyramid roof rises above the crossing .
