The Saßleben village church is the church building in the village of Saßleben in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Saßleben and is part of the Lower Lusatia parish in the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .
history
The village church of Saßleben was probably built in the 15th century. It is a rectangular field stone building with arched windows . It is covered with a gable roof with bat dormers . In 1775, the church was extensively rebuilt, adding a three-sided east end.
To the west of the church is a wooden bell tower, also erected in 1775, in which a bell from 1583 hangs. Inside the church has a flat plastered ceiling with stucco profiles . In the 1980s, the building was plastered except for the west wall.
Most of the interior is from the 18th century. It has a circumferential gallery as well as a simple pulpit altar and a box on the north side. The organ was built in 1928 by the organ builder Gustav Heinze from Sorau .
As early as the 19th century, the parish of Saßleben belonged to the superintendent of Calau. From 1922 to 1953 the church district belonged to the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union and then to the Evangelical Church of the Union . In 1961, the Calau parish merged with the Lübben parish to form the Lübben-Calau parish, which in turn became the Lübben parish again on March 1, 1998 by merging with the Luckau parish . The parish of Saßleben has been part of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia since 2003. In 2010 the parish of Lübben merged with the parish of Finsterwalde to form today's parish of Niederlausitz . The village of Reuden is parish after Saßleben.
