St Minver Lowlands

St Minver Lowlands is a civil parish ( Parish ) on the north coast of the English county of Cornwall .

St Minver Lowlands is in the Landscape Character Area Cornish Killas . It extends on the eastern right bank of the Camel River estuary .

At the time of the 2011 census there were 1271 people in St Minver Lowlands, the municipal area is 9.3 square kilometers. Until the conversion of Cornwall into a unitary authority in 2009 and the related resolution of the districts of the county belonged to St Minver Lowlands to North Cornwall . The closest major town, across the Camel, is Padstow . A ferry service for people and cyclists leads there from Rock .

Neighboring parishes are St Minver Highlands to the north and east, St Breock to the southeast and St Issey to the southwest. St Minver Lowlands has two main settlement areas: in the south there are the villages of Pityme, Splatt, Penmayne, Stoptide, Porthilly and Rock , which have grown together over time . About two kilometers away in the north are Trebetherick and the immediately adjacent western part of Polzeath. The eastern part falls into the area of ​​St Minver Highlands, which is also where St Minver is located, both of which are named after them .

The southern third of the district falls into the Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty Cornwall AONB . Along the river bank in the northern part there are two areas designated as nature reserves ( SSSI ): Rock Dunes and Trebetherick Point ; St Minver Lowlands also has a small share in a third, the Pentire Peninsula , which begins on the northern border of the district .

St. Enodoc Church

A total of 23 buildings and facilities in the municipality are classified as culturally and historically significant. These are the parish church of St. Enodoc from the high Middle Ages as a listed building in the highest category I, the church of St. Michael in category II * and 20 others in category II. There is also a stone cemetery cross at St Michael as a scheduled monument .

The district of Rock is a popular resort, especially for the wealthy and celebrities. It is therefore also known as "Britain's Saint Tropez " or the " Kensington of Cornwall".
