St Minver Highlands is a municipality ( Parish ) on the north coast of the English county of Cornwall .

geography

St Minver Highlands is in the Landscape Character Area Cornish Killas . It borders Padslow Bay and Port Quin Bay , both of which are part of the Celtic Sea , to the north . The two bays are separated by the Pentire Head peninsula , at the tip of which is Cape Rumps Point . Two offshore small islands, The Mouls and Newland , are also part of it. In the south, the district extends to the lower reaches of the Camel River .

The parish includes the eponymous St Minver , Tredrizzick, New Polzeath, the eastern part of Polzeath and a number of smaller hamlets . The nearest larger towns are Wadebridge , a few kilometers to the south and, beyond the Camel, Padstow . Neighboring parishes, starting to the northeast and going clockwise, are St Endellion , St Kew , Egloshayle , St Breock and St Minver Lowlands . At the time of the 2011 census, 968 people lived in St Minver Lowlands, the municipal area is 21.7 square kilometers. Until the conversion of Cornwall into a unitary authority in 2009 and the related resolution of the districts of the county belonged to St Minver Highlands to North Cornwall .

Both the coastal area with the offshore islands and the shore area on Camel fall into the Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty Cornwall AONB . Pentire Head is also designated as a nature reserve ( SSSI ), as well as the estuary of the River Amble, a tributary of the Camel, as Amble Marshes .

Buildings

A total of 51 buildings and facilities in the municipality are classified as culturally and historically significant.
