St Ninians , also called St Ringans, is a former village in the Scottish Council Area Stirling , which is now part of the city of Stirling . It was in the traditional county of Stirlingshire . It was named after the holy Ninian of Whithorn .

The Jacobites used the former parish church of St Ninians as an arsenal. The church tower from 1734 is the only part of the building that survived an explosion in 1746 and is still a striking object today. In 1751 a new church building was erected at a different location. During the 18th and 19th centuries, tartan weavers were located in St Ninians . Coal was also mined there.

Between 1818 and 1860 was in the Charter Hall -Brennerei in St Ninian's whiskey burned .
