Staabe
The Staabe (occasionally also Stabe ) is part of the Dahme and the Dahme-Wasserstraße (DaWanda) between the kilometers 9.52 and 10.29. It is not known since when and why the 480-meter-long section of the river has been called Staabe. There is no information on the etymology of the term.
The Staabe section of the Dahme is located in Neue Mühle , a residential area in the city of Königs Wusterhausen in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg, southeast of Berlin . It begins with the headwater of the historic Neue Mühle lock , which dates back to 1696, and ends 480 meters upstream at the Husareneck headland, where the river merges into the Krimnicksee .
On the south bank, right next to the lock, is the Yacht Club Neue Mühle with a wood-clad club house. The zoo , which the soldier king Friedrich Wilhelm I had laid out for hunting in 1725 in a 900 hectare wooded area east of his hunting lodge in Wusterhausen , adjoins the club's grounds as far as the Husareneck . The area has been part of the Tiergarten nature reserve of the same name since 1995 . A promenade runs along the north bank and ends at the Staabe open-air pool at Neue Mühle.
The Staabe is particularly busy in the summer months. In 2006, around 16,340 ships and boats passed the river section: around 100 passenger ships, 15,600 small vehicles and 640 fiscal vehicles. The Staabe regatta - a rowing regatta - takes place every autumn .
