The State Pedagogical University Vissarion Belinsky Penza ( Russian Пензенский государственный педагогический университет им. В.Г. Белинского Pensenski gossudarstwennyj pedagogitscheski uniwersitet imeni WG Belinskogo ) was a university in Penza , Russia . It was named after the literary critic and philosopher Wissarion Belinsky (1811-1848).

The university had twelve faculties with 6,000 direct students and 4,000 distance students studying.

history

The story began on July 1, 1939, when a teachers' institute was founded on the basis of a pedagogical college. In 1941 it was renamed the Pedagogical Institute . It had two faculties: the Faculty of Russian and Literature and the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In 1948 the institute was given the name Belinskis and in 1994 the status of a university.

In 2013 the university was incorporated into the State University of Penza as the Pedagogical Institute Vissarion Grigoryevich Belinsky
