The Volgograd State Pedagogical University (also Volgograd State Pedagogical University from the Russian : Волгоградский государственный педагогический университет) is a public educational college in the Russian city of Volgograd .

history

In 1931 the university was established by decree by the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR as the successor to the Industrial Pedagogical Institute of Stalingrad . The building and the library were completely destroyed during the Battle of Stalingrad during the Second World War . In 1949 the school was named after the writer Alexander Serafimowitsch . As part of the political reforms carried out by Nikita Khrushchev in 1961 , not only the place but also the institution was renamed. In 1992 she received university status. At the end of the 1990s it was one of the 10 best educational and linguistic institutions in Russia and one of the 100 best universities in the world.

In 2011 there are around 7,700 students, including 5,000 full-time students, and 650 academic employees. There are 13 faculties; The rector of the university is Aleksandr Korotkov.
