The Staatliche Gymnasium Holzkirchen is a natural science-technological and an economics and social science high school with an economic profile. In both courses, English is the first foreign language , followed by Latin or French as a second foreign language from grade 6 onwards. The school also offers many elective courses, including Chinese and robotics, for example.

With the school year 2014/15, the school started operations under the founding director Axel Kisters as the third grammar school in the Miesbach district . Currently, around 800 students, from grades 5 to 11, attend the State Gymnasium Holzkirchen.

School profile

The pedagogical concept consists of four basic pillars: the grading concept, the double hour principle, the teacher's room principle, and the substitute hour concept.

Note concept

As part of the grading concept, all of the examinations are either announced or voluntary. With the resolution of the first teachers' conference after the foundation, this maxim is binding for all teachers in all subjects and grades. Thereby two central objectives are pursued: The reduction of school stress and the increase of the students' personal responsibility.

Double hour principle

The teaching of all subjects is basically organized in double lessons with the aim of reducing the number of subjects to be prepared on a school day and of providing the organizational framework for student-centered forms of teaching by slowing down the teaching process.

Classroom principle

Organizationally, the pedagogical - didactic concept is supported by the teacher room principle . By tying teachers to fixed rooms, it is to be ensured that all materials necessary for internal differentiation and weekly planning work as well as other aids such as atlases , dictionaries , Bibles, etc. are readily available on site.

Substitution hour concept

The substitute hour concept of the Staatliche Gymnasium Holzkirchen aims at a complete as well as pedagogically and didactically meaningful substitution of failing regular lessons and builds on the pedagogical overall concept of the school.

In principle, every lesson that is otherwise canceled should be represented in the morning. If possible, either specialist teachers are employed, who are supplied with work materials by the colleague they represent, or teachers who teach the relevant class themselves.

As a result of the predominantly student-centered forms of teaching, the students are also often already busy doing weekly work that can easily be continued in substitute situations. In addition, the student councils provide material for all grades that can be used in substitute lessons for repetition and practice.

Prize winner isi 2018

In the school year 2017/18, the State Gymnasium Holzkirchen won the isi 2018 competition. The abbreviation isi stands for Internal School Development & School Quality Innovation Prize. The jury praised the pedagogical concepts, in particular the grading concept as well as the student-activating and competence-oriented teaching methods. In the laudation, the school was also praised for its exemplary, systematic and targeted quality management process.

Trip concept

School trips include a one-week school campground stay for grade 6 and a ski camp for grade 7. For the 8th grade there is a student exchange with the Cardinal Newman Catholic School Hove in England. In the ninth grade there is a school exchange to France.

Partner school

Since 2015 there has been a partnership with the non-profit aid organization United World Schools and Con Cultures to support the establishment of a school in the village of Gufa in Nepal .

building

The grammar school was completed using the PPP ( public-private partnership ) after a construction period of just under one and a half years (June 2013 to September 2014).
