The State Pedagogical Institute Semipalatinsk ( Kazakh Семей мемлекеттік педагогикалық институты ; Russian Семипалатинский государственный педагогический институт ) in Kazakhstan's Semipalatinsk area East Kazakhstan is the oldest university of the city of Semipalatinsk. It was founded in 1934 and currently has approximately five thousand students.
Training at the institute takes place in Kazakh and Russian . The university is divided into six faculties . The complex includes five teaching buildings, a sports field, two student residences , a university library and a sports stadium with space for 600 people.
The institute was founded in 1934 as a teaching institute and was named a pedagogical institute in 1937. At that time, it consisted of three faculties ( mathematics , science and Russian literature ). In 1937 the student dormitory was built and in 1939 the institute was given the nickname NK Krupskaja, after Nadezhda Konstantinovna Krupskaja . In 1944 the institute already had the four faculties of philology , history , mathematics and natural sciences. In the years after the Second World War , the number of students continued to increase, so that the campus was expanded by the end of the 1970s . From 1996 to 2003 the college was called the State University of Semei, before it was renamed the State Pedagogical Institute Semei again in 2004.
