The Würzburg State Archive is the Bavarian State Archive responsible for the Lower Franconia administrative region .

The holdings of the State Archives in the Würzburg Residence include:

  • Territories of the Old Empire in today's administrative district of Lower Franconia, especially: cathedral chapter and monastery Würzburg together with the associated monasteries and monasteries, cathedral chapter and archbishopric Mainz (if they were part of Bavaria) with associated monasteries and monasteries, imperial city Schweinfurt (parts), Franconian knighthood canton Rhön-Werra, Johanniterkommende Würzburg-Biebelried and Teutonic Order, Hochstift Fulda (parts), lordship and aristocratic archives (e.g. Schönborn , Fechenbach ).
