The Stabben ( Norwegian for stump ) is a prominent mountain in the Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises to the north of the Mayr range in the northern part of Gjelsvikfjella .
The first aerial photos of the mountain were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named the mountain, carried out a mapping based on aerial photographs and measurements of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
