Ronald Stacey King (born January 29, 1967 in Lawton , Oklahoma ) is a retired American basketball player and coach. He currently works as a color commentator on television and moderates the Bulls' games.

college

From 1985 to 1989, King played the Oklahoma Sooners for his college basketball team . He reached the Final Four once and the Sweet 16 once with the Sooners . In his final season, when the Final Four was reached, he was the team's top scorer with 26 points per game and was voted into several All-American teams.

Professional career

Since he had drawn attention to himself through his good performance, he was picked in the 1989 NBA Draft in 6th place by the Chicago Bulls . That made him one of the Bulls' three first-round picks. After his first year as a professional, he was called up to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team . During his time with the Bulls, he was three times NBA champion, but was not used very often and started only 23 times in four years. Therefore, he was traded during the 1993-1994 NBA season in exchange for Luc Longley for the Minnesota Timberwolves . For the Timberwolves he played 50 games and was not very successful and then played a season in the CBA at Grand Rapids. He then played in Italy for a short time before moving to the Miami Heat . In Miami he was rarely used and was struck off on July 17, 1996 from the squad. He then moved to the Sioux Falls Skyforce . For Sioux Falls he did not play for a season and in between signed once with the Boston Celtics and once with the Dallas Mavericks a 10-day contract, but was not included in the respective squad. The following season he played in Turkey and then returned to Sioux Falls. The following year he ended his active career in Argentina.

Coaching career

In his first coaching season with the Rockford Lightning , he reached the CBA finals directly, but lost them to the Dakota Wizards . After the season he moved within the league to his old club, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. With Sioux Falls he missed the play-offs and then ended his coaching career.
