Stacey Solomon (born October 9, 1989 in Dagenham , Essex , England ) is a British singer . She became known in 2009 through the British talent show The X Factor .

Life

Solomon grew up in a Jewish family and, after her parents' divorce, lived with her mother with her siblings Jemma and Matthew. At the age of 17 she became pregnant by her boyfriend at the time and was the mother of a little boy whom she raised alone for a few years after separating from her boyfriend. For this reason, she was awarded the Celebrity Mother of the Year award in 2011 . In the spring of that year, she published her autobiography Stacey: My Story So Far , in which she primarily focuses on her early motherhood.

Career

During her audition for the talent show The X Factor , she sang the title What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and received positive reactions from all jury members. She finished the show third behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs . Then she went on tour with the other finalists through Great Britain. In 2010 she took part in the reality show I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! part, the British equivalent of the German jungle camp . She emerged as the winner and was also the third woman to ever win this show. In January 2011, she announced that she now wanted to concentrate on her solo career.
