Stackable Unified Module Interconnect Technology

Stackable Unified Module Interconnect Technology , SUMIT for short , is a technology specified by SFF-SIG that enables small and compact form factors and thus sizes of computers . Several data buses with different interface technologies are routed to a defined 52-pin connector. The slots or external plug connections for these interfaces are relocated to separate boards or modules that can be connected to one another via the SUMIT connector. This technology makes it possible to manufacture computer systems in a very small form factor ( Pico ITX board) with dimensions of 100 mm × 72 mm. This is particularly important for embedded systems .
