The Stadio Cosimo Puttilli is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Italian city of Barletta , Apulia region . It is the home ground of the ASD Barletta 1922 football club . The facility has a capacity of 3,998 spectators.
history
The stadium was officially opened in 1970 with the game between Barletta and a small village club from the area. In 1987, the stadium had to be adapted to the standards applicable there due to promotion to the fifth-highest division in Italy. In order to avoid forced relegation, the necessary funds were approved, which drove the club founded in 1922 into bankruptcy in 1995. The association was founded in 1995 and renamed several times. Another re-establishment followed in 2015 under the current name ASD Barletta 1922. The club plays in the Eccellenza , the fifth highest league in the country.
On the occasion of the Mediterranean Games in 1997 in the Apulian capital Bari , games of the football tournament took place in the stadium of Barletta.
