The Niedermatten stadium is located in the Swiss municipality of Wohlen in the canton of Aargau . It is the home of the football club FC Wohlen . The football stadium is owned by the municipality of Wohlen.

history

Construction began in autumn 2002 and was completed in spring 2004. The total capacity is 3'734 visitors, who are divided into 634 seats and 3'100 standing places. The playing area consists of natural grass . The stadium is part of the Niedermatten sports center. In addition to the football stadium, it includes an athletics facility with a 400-meter synthetic track , an inline hockey field, two football training grounds and nine tennis courts .

Artificial turf is to be laid on the playing field of the football stadium . In August 2015, an artificial turf field for a training field was already decided. On March 21, 2016 the Wohlen residents' council voted 22:13 for a loan of 1.16 million Swiss francs to finance the artificial playing field. There was resistance to the decision, among other things because of the high total costs of 1.6 million Swiss francs. Citizens are to be asked by referendum . On April 1, 2016, the non-partisan referendum committee started the vote ‹No to the second artificial turf (main field)› .
