The Stadthalle Troisdorf is an event hall with 1500 seats completed in 2014 in Troisdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Design and construction phase

The Cologne architectural office Böhm, named Paul Böhm, was responsible for the first draft for the construction of a town hall in Troisdorf .

The design was designed to create a representative town hall square at the end of Kölner Straße, and a city park was also to be created, which functions as the end of the north side with its clear design language. With the construction of a pond and the three discontinued structures of the town hall, an urban planning unit was to be created. The already existing town hall as well as the dynamite noble building to the east and the town hall will then delimit the town hall square and give the square a concise shape through their arrangement.

The draft also contained an extensive new traffic engineering concept, with the relocation of commercial delivery journeys and the construction of a large underground car park . The design was subordinate to the existing tree population, most of the existing trees could remain in place despite the extensive construction work.

The structure of the town hall is essentially characterized by a shed roof , which, starting from the edge of the square, is staggered into the depth of the building. A central inner hall is surrounded by individual smaller structures that can function as multifunctional rooms.

The design by the Böhm office was revised by the architects KH Architekten und Generalplaner GmbH from Stuttgart for cost reasons. In place of the shed roof hall, a monolithic structure now forms the hall building. This is set like a gem in the foyer and administration rooms. Böhm planned a hall for approx. 3000 visitors, the reduced implementation offers space for 1500 visitors. The hall size is given as 5,900 m² and the stage size as 140 m². The foundation stone was laid on November 30, 2012. The town hall was completed on schedule.

A defining stylistic device is the living facade, which is presented in different copper and bronze tones depending on the location of the observer. The play of colors is due to the incorporation of stainless steel strips that have been subjected to an electrolysis treatment.

Opening and use

The Troisdorf town hall was opened in spring 2014. At the opening, the song Our House was played by the ska group Madness , for which a dance group from the Breuer dance school performed a choreography .

The city hall is operated by the Troisdorf city administration. The hall can be used flexibly as several event rooms are available. The hall was planned for trade fair events, meetings , congresses, concerts , seminars , theater performances , but also cabaret events .

The construction of the hall was barrier-free so that the hall can also be visited by people with disabilities and the infirm. Alternative seating options enable different event concepts. Events for 15 to 1500 people as well as the integration of an outdoor area (including a covered outdoor stage) are possible.

Naming

The city's cultural office initiated a design competition for the name and logo of the new hall, in which 40 advertising agencies from the Troisdorf region took part. A jury assessed 22 proposals and filtered out five designs. The citizens of Troisdorf could vote on this freely. The citizens decided with 373 votes in favor of proposal no. 5, which contained the name "Stadthalle Troisdorf".
