The church

The Remda City Church (also St. Simon & Juda ) is located in the Remda district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

With the receipt of the town charter and the later recognition of the market charter , Remda gained more power in the 12th century, also from an ecclesiastical point of view of Kirchremda and more importance in the ecclesiastical sovereignty to the Remda-dependent villages.

In 1744 the church was completely destroyed by a city fire . Then it was rebuilt immediately and the church got its present shape. In 1888 the room in the nave got a new altar wall with a Christ triptych . The painter was Edmund Herger.

In 1846 an organ building association was founded and organ builder August Witzmann from Stadtilm built an organ (possibly not until 1867). Their pipes were melted down during the First World War . Karl-Heinz Schönefeld restored the instrument from 2009 to 2013 and reconstructed lost registers .

After the political change , the organ was restored from 2011 with 94,000 euros with the help of the German Foundation for Monument Protection .
